We celebrate the 4th with new roofing!

Working Late

Well, Ed installed this way cool 5" half round galvanized gutter, but all the pictures show Brad putting the finishing touches on it, by attaching the downspout. This gutter detail with downspout is Brad's innovative creation. The roof will join the gutter on July 4 -- an all day family roofing party.



















Late night work sessions are eased by a campfire at the site with dinner on the grill. Ed, Brad and Erin enjoying the fire.

Supporting the Porch

These sono tubes will hold the concrete to support the steel posts that will support the main house porch roof. Austin and Brad work to get every direction straight and level before securing the tubes, and then the posts, with hand mixed concrete. The cement truck will top them off on Thursday during the retaining wall pour. Then, at a future time, the slab will be poured around them hiding the footings entirely.

Preparing for Another Pour

The pour date has slipped a little, but now it's locked in -- we're pouring on Thursday. The complexity of the forms, rebar and steel is another eye opener, especially as they all come together at the same level with the angles lining up.
